What is Scrip or eScrip?
The two terms are used interchangeably to describe a variety of ways to raise money for schools and non-profit organizations by shopping.

Historically, the word Scrip actually was a substitute for money which , depending upon the issuer and the agreement, was exchangeable for cash, goods or services. In modern day terms, Scrip describes a variety of fundraising programs that encourage families to buy their goods through participating merchants. They then contribute a percentage of the purchases to the designated group. eScrip is an electronic version of these fundraising efforts.

The programs are varied and administered differently. A common version allows organizations to purchase gift cards/certificates through merchant partners at a discount while another tracks purchases and then contributes a percentage of a customer’s purchase as a dnation. Basically, merchants want to reward customer loyalty and consider their donations as encouragement to continue to shop with them.

Parents, teachers, friends and families are encouraged to register their grocery club cards, and existing credit/debit cards as supporters. A percentage of all purchases made at eScrip merchants will be given back to the designated school or group.
